Dogs at Sunshine Gardens

While dogs are welcome with their owners at Sunshine, they must be on a leash or somehow tethered while at the garden. Multiple reports of dogs on the loose at the garden requires a reminder about the rules from the Sunshine Handbook.

"Pets. All pets must be on a leash and secured at all times. Dogs can do quick damage by running through or digging in plots. Be sure to clean up after your pets."

Micah Delivery is Saturday Morning

Dana Kuykendall reminds us about Micah food pantry donations and how important they are now. The Micah team delivers every Saturday morning around 9 am not on Thursdays as previously reported in the Weeder. Dana says:

"The need is great, but we need to make our deliveries as clean and safe as possible. It is very important to have the donated veggies be in the same condition as found in the grocery stores. Last Saturday, half of the vegetables in the cooler were hot and smelled bad and had to be discarded in the compost pile. I don't know a solution except to only accept donations on Saturday morning."

Please donate your excess produce in good condition to the Micah program on Saturdays just before the 9:00 AM delivery time.

The Compost Chronicles

Randy Thompson reports more Identifiable Foreign Objects (IFOs) found in Sunshine's Compost Pile.

Please remove all equipment and non-compostable materials from Compost Piles after depositing plant materials or collecting compost for your garden. The dumpster or tool shed would have worked for some of these IFOs.
